It is Back Breaking

A woman is suing over claims a defective elevator in Katy caused her back to break.

Bernice Haag filed a lawsuit on Oct. 26 in Harris County District Court against Schindler Elevator Corp., citing negligence.

Haag says on Oct. 27, 2009, her back was broken while attempting to board an elevator in an office building, located at 17000 Katy Freeway. According to the brief, the elevator lurched and threw her back.

An ambulance transported her to Memorial Hermann Katy, where she underwent surgery. The suit alleges the operation was unsuccessful and her health continues to deteriorate.

Haag is seeking damages and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Stephen Liss.

Harris County District Court Case No. 2011- 65108.
