Driving and Texting (DWT) can be a deadly combination, and today in Austin The House Transportation Committee will consider legislation to institute a statewide ban on texting while driving.
The average "texter" takes their eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds and this
fact increases the drivers chance for an accident by 23 percent.
Since January of 2009, 14 states and the District of Columbia have banned texting while driving.
